An intimate reading of the award-winning play

Cast includes Úna Clancy [Heir to the Throne, Wu Tang: An American Saga], Ciara Van Buren [Finding Joy, The Shift], Phil Burke [Hell on Wheels, This is 40, Billy and Billie}, Damian O’Hare [Perry Mason, Pirates of the Caribbean], Brandon Flynn [13 Reasons Why, True Detective], Katherine O’Sullivan {Hungry Hearts, Six Degrees], Laurissa "Lala" Romain [Top Five, Son of the South], Gerard McNamee (Misty Button, White Collar], and Brenda Meaney [Love/Hate, FBI: Most Wanted].

The 8th is an Anti-Traditional Familial Irish Dramedy which deals with abortion rights in Ireland and what was the eventual repealing of the 8th Amendment, which finally, after decades, allowed women the right to choose. The piece is written by multiple award winner, Seanie Sugrue, who sets the scene in a small family home in rural Kerry, where discussion and debate on all subjects is found around the "cooker", destined to boil over and create what will undoubtedly be a cacophony of opinions due to clash and delight depending on what side you’re on.

While tensions rise inside the house, outside the people of Ireland are equally divided as they prepare to vote on whether to repeal the eighth amendment and legalize abortion in the most contentious social issue Ireland has seen since its independence.
